The Galli Family & The American Dream

In the early 1900s, my Great Grandfather, Guiseppi Galli came to America from Italy.

Like so many other hard working Americans he arrived in this country as an illegal immigrant with little more than the clothes on his back. He brought his stonecutting skills to the famed granite quarries of Barre Vermont, and after making his way out West even helped in the reconstruction of San Francisco following the earthquake of 1906.

After years of hard work, he and his small family bought a modest grocery store and restaurant in Pismo Beach, Ca where he
remained a humble shopkeeper for the rest of his life.

He truly lived the American Dream.

The sign pictured on the right was proudly displayed outside of his business and to this day hangs in a position of prominence at my cousin’s home. My sign takes direct inspiration from his, and hopefully it will bless me with the same entrepreneurial spirit .
